Until today, The Official Studeous Blog has been written on WordPress. Why? Because upon its creation, we did not have our own blogging platform. Today we have moved to The Official Studeous Blog to the Official Studeous Blogging Platform...right where it belongs.
Welcome home.
That said, we are not done. We will never be done improving and innovating. Although Studeous is already changing the lives of teachers across the world, there is always more to be done. Keep sending us your comments and suggestions. With your continued help, guidance, and advice we can continue to make this the new standard in e-learning.
Our brand new blogging platform is now live. It’s very cool - to get started just go to your desk/locker page, then click “Create New Blog.”
We made blogs very flexible - you can make them:

After weeks of fun, but hard work here at Studeous, we are proud to announce the release of our new portal re-design—Studeous 2.0. We have also, changed our logo (new logo below). We will soon launch our new cover site that will be filled with useful information, complete with an extensive “About Us” section so you can get to better know the team that is Studeous.
As you may know, this summer is all about making Studeous bigger and better. The new portal is a step towards this goal. We have been receiving a flood of emails recently of ideas for new features. Literally, from all around the world. It is exciting to see such a positive reaction to our mission—to commodify e-learning.
We believe every teacher in the world deserves an opportunity to use e-learning. By offering a system that is free, easier to use, and more useful than the highly priced existing enterprise solutions, we hope to commodify e-learning. This is a revolutionary idea in an industry that rarely sees such innovation, but it seems to be working well so far.
It has been a busy Monday, here at Studeous. We are in the process of completely redesigning the Studeous cover site (adding a executive board page, advisory board page, history of Studeous, etc.) and making some exciting visual changes to Studeous Beta, as well. We haven’t set a date for the release of the new cover site, but I can promise that it will be soon. So, get excited about that.
In other news, Studeous is creating quite the buzz in the internet world. We have been featured in many blogs and have experienced exponential growth in the number of codes requested to sign up for Studeous. Our VP of Online Marketing, Ben Peterson, has been swamped with emails asking for more information about Studeous, thus reason for the new site.
Although the academic year is coming to an end, it seems that Studeous has just begun.
The Teacher Advisory Board will have access to preliminary designs and ideas for Studeous and well as be able to interact with the founders on a personal level. If you would like to join this board, please send an email to Jeff Stein at jeff@studeous.com explaining why you want to be on the Teacher Advisory Board.
Special thanks to David at MakeUseOf.com for his review of Studeous.
"I can’t even count the number of times both teachers and students have complained about paid services that their respective institutions utilize. Well, now comes Studeous, a free (and better) alternative that allows for online collaboration in the world of academics."

Now that the school year is coming to an end, students and teachers will be taking some time off from Studeous. So, what will we be doing with all this time on our hands?
Well, the Studeous.com home page will be getting a new 2.0 redesign and Studeous will be getting tons of new features. Whenever we add one of these new features to Studeous, we will post “New feature: _________” to let you know what it is and give us feedback.
Our first new feature is making chat local to the class page. This way, teachers will have their own secure and private chat rooms for their classes that only their students will be able to join. Also, we gave teachers the option to turn the chat feature on and off so that they can control when their students are chatting. We are currently working on a feature that will auto record the chats and display them on the class page (UPDATE: This feature is now available). This will allow students who missed the “online office hours” or “after school tutoring” to see what was discussed, without the teacher having to go in and copy and paste the chat transcript to a word document and upload it.
This is in an effort to make the chats more secure, more private, and more educationally focused.
Last week we got featured in a news article in The Daily Texan here in Austin. Credit goes to Katie Flores for a wonderfully well-written article and Andrea Lai for a great picture.
I just wanted to give everyone an update and ask for any ideas for things you want to see in Studeous. No idea or comment is too small, so just let us know.
